Roman Reigns Shares Thoughts on The Rock, Cody Rhodes, and WrestleMania 40
Roman Reigns, known as The Original Tribal Chief, recently spoke in an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina about his experiences surrounding the main event of WrestleMania 40. Reigns revealed that he did not mind facing Cody Rhodes instead of The Rock, emphasizing that his main concern was being in the spotlight.
He said, "It doesn’t matter to me. I was the main event. I’m the guy that everyone wanted to take out. Whoever came to try, it was the same task. They were trying to stop history from happening." This comment came after WWE initially planned to have The Rock challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship, then switched to Rhodes following Rhodes’ victory in the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble match.
After the fans reacted negatively to the change, Rhodes reversed his decision and decided to challenge Reigns after all. The Rock then turned heel, adopting the persona of The Final Boss, and aligned with Reigns. Together, The Rock and Reigns defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40. The next night, Rhodes won the WWE Championship by defeating Reigns.
Reigns also addressed the possibility of a future match against The Rock. He stated that if the fans loudly demand it and The People’s Champ is willing, then WWE will try to make that match happen. The Rock returned unexpectedly at WWE’s Bad Blood event last month but has not revealed his next steps since.
Tommy Fury Hints at Potential WWE Career
Boxer Tommy Fury has hinted that he might pursue a career in professional wrestling with WWE. On Sunday, Fury posted a video from backstage during WWE’s recent UK tour. There, he expressed appreciation for the WWE Superstars he met, including Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.
Fury said, "I look forward to possibly climbing through those ropes one day." Tommy Fury is the younger brother of former world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury, who previously fought in WWE at Crown Jewel 2019. Tommy Fury holds an undefeated professional boxing record and is the only boxer to beat Jake Paul. Given the connections between the Fury and Paul families and Logan Paul’s current WWE status, Tommy Fury could be positioned for engaging storylines if he joins WWE.
Oba Femi’s Absence from NXT Sparks Speculation
Oba Femi, former NXT North American Champion, has been absent from NXT tapings for about a month following his loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27. Fightful Select reports there has been no news of Femi backstage or appearing on recent shows.
Femi had a strong run in NXT since his debut in April 2023. He won the NXT Breakout Tournament and claimed the North American Championship, holding it for a record 272 days before losing it to D’Angelo. He also lost the rematch at Halloween Havoc.
His current absence could be for several reasons. It may be to give him time to reset after two major defeats, an injury, or possibly preparation for a call-up to WWE’s main roster. If Femi returns soon, he would be a strong contender to challenge for the NXT Championship, potentially taking the title from Trick Williams.
