Roman Reigns Opens Up About WrestleMania 40 Matches
Roman Reigns shared his thoughts on facing both The Rock and Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 during an interview on the SI Media podcast with Jimmy Traina. Reigns said he did not mind who he faced in the main event as long as he held that spot. He described himself as the center of attention and said that anyone he faced was trying to stop history from happening.
Reigns explained that after Rhodes won the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble, Rhodes initially said he would not challenge Reigns for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40, leaving room for The Rock to step in. But following negative fan reaction, Rhodes reversed his stance. This led to The Rock turning heel, taking on the persona of The Final Boss, and teaming with Reigns. The Rock and Reigns defeated Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40. However, Rhodes won the WWE title from Reigns on Night 2. When asked about a possible future match with The Rock, Reigns said that if the fans want it and The Rock is willing, WWE can make it happen. He noted that the company listens to its fanbase and aims to satisfy their interests.
Tommy Fury Shows Interest in WWE
Boxer Tommy Fury hinted at a future in WWE after attending a WWE event during the company’s UK tour. In a video posted on YouTube, Fury shared footage from backstage, including meetings with WWE stars like Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther.
Fury said he appreciated the hospitality from WWE and expressed excitement about possibly stepping into the wrestling ring one day. As the younger brother of former boxing world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury—who had a match with WWE in 2019—Tommy’s interest in wrestling could pave the way for new storylines.
Tommy Fury’s undefeated 10-0 boxing record and his victory over Jake Paul could make him a strong WWE presence. Given his connection to the Paul family, there is potential for a feud or tag team events involving the Fury and Paul brothers.
Oba Femi’s Absence from NXT Sparks Speculation
Oba Femi, the former North American champion, has not appeared on NXT television or been seen backstage at tapings since late October. His last match, a loss to Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on October 27, ended Femi’s record 272-day reign as North American champion. He lost their rematch as well.
His absence has raised questions about whether he is injured, being rested after consecutive losses, or being prepared for a call-up to WWE’s main roster. Femi debuted on NXT in April 2023, won the NXT Breakout Tournament, and captured the North American title by defeating Dragon Lee.
If Femi returns soon, he is expected to contend for the NXT Championship and could potentially challenge the current champion, Trick Williams.
