Nashville International Airport Gears Up for Holiday Travel Season
Nashville International Airport (BNA) has announced its preparations for the upcoming holiday travel period, aiming to assist travelers and maintain smooth operations throughout the season. Airport officials expect passenger numbers to stay below the average daily volume, as the winter holidays typically do not represent a peak travel time for BNA.
Officials identified several peak travel dates around the holidays. Travelers are most likely to experience increased activity from December 19 through December 22, then again on December 26, and January 2. Even with these busy days, the airport does not anticipate record-breaking travel volumes.
Passengers are encouraged to plan their trips carefully and make use of the airport’s various services. Options include multiple parking facilities, real-time flight updates, and a selection of dining and retail outlets within the terminal. Early arrival is advised to allow extra time for parking, check-in, and security procedures. Early arrival also gives travelers the chance to enjoy the airport’s holiday decorations and local food and shopping options.
BNA recommends signing up for text alerts by visiting flynashville.com. These alerts provide traffic information and travel tips to help passengers stay informed. Drivers heading to the airport should know alternative routes, such as Exit 216B and Murfreesboro Pike, in addition to the more commonly used Exit 216A. Parking lots can fill even outside peak times, so visitors should consider this when planning their arrival.
For those picking up travelers, the airport offers a cell phone waiting lot at 1415 Murfreesboro Pike. Using this facility can ease congestion near the terminal. It is also suggested to wait 20 to 30 minutes after a flight’s arrival before heading to the curb, allowing passengers time to exit the terminal.
Travelers should check their flight status directly with their airline before coming to the airport. Reviewing TSA packing rules is also advised to help move through security checkpoints efficiently.
The holiday travel period at Nashville International Airport runs from December 19 through January 5. Through these planned measures, airport officials hope to provide a stress-free travel experience during the holiday season.
