Yahoo Explains How It Uses Cookies and Protects User Privacy
Yahoo, part of the Yahoo family of brands that includes Engadget and Yahoo Advertising, has shared details on how it manages user privacy when visitors use its sites and apps.
When users browse Yahoo’s digital platforms, the company employs cookies and related technologies like web storage. Cookies store and read information from devices to help Yahoo operate its services and secure user accounts, while reducing spam and abuse.
Yahoo counts visitors, their device types (such as iOS or Android), the browsers they use, and how long they stay on pages. This information is collected in aggregate form and does not identify individual users.
Yahoo invites users to make privacy choices. By clicking “Accept all,” users agree to allow Yahoo and its partners — including 250 organizations in the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework — to use cookies and access precise geolocation data and other personal information. This includes technical identifiers like browser cookies, device IDs, and IP addresses, which help Yahoo deliver analytics, personalized ads and content, measure advertising performance, conduct audience research, and improve services.
If users decline by clicking “Reject all,” Yahoo and its partners do not use cookies and personal data for these extra features.
Users may also customize settings by selecting “Manage privacy settings.” Yahoo lets users withdraw consent or change preferences anytime via the “Privacy and Cookie settings” or the “Privacy dashboard” links available on its sites and apps.
For more details on data practices, users can review Yahoo’s Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. These documents explain how personal data is handled and the choices available to visitors.
