International Travel Resumes at Rhode Island’s T.F. Green International Airport
Travelers at Rhode Island’s T.F. Green International Airport can now fly abroad once again. After years of limited or no international flights, the airport recently welcomed its first new international service.
The return of international flights follows several departures of foreign routes in recent years. BermudAir stopped flights to Bermuda in July 2025. Norwegian Air ended its transatlantic operations in 2019. Frontier Airlines ended its services in 2023. These changes resulted in the airport focusing mostly on domestic travel for some time.
On a recent Saturday afternoon, passengers queued with passports in hand to board Breeze Airways’ new flight to Cancun, Mexico. Many expressed relief and excitement about the convenience of flying internationally from Rhode Island instead of driving to Boston Logan Airport.
Ryan Hitte, a traveler, said, “I’m happy to see they’re coming through T.F. Green because it certainly makes it a lot easier than driving all the way to Boston.”
Airport officials have not yet provided details about when international flights might expand to other destinations. However, travelers hope this reopening marks the start of more global connections from the airport.
For now, T.F. Green International Airport offers a renewed gateway to international travel for Rhode Islanders, cutting down travel time and making overseas journeys more accessible from home.
